Garcia Family | Sunny Evening by The Nueces
I have busy months ahead of me! I am blogging as much as I can, so that I can keep up with all the things that come with photography and the business.
Some might say that it’s odd to have a love for routines, but I have found a passion for them. Yes, a passion for routines! Without it I am lost! I have to look at my schedule for everything. I photographed the GARCIA FAMILY during one of my peak seasons! I managed to complete it and order their images, thankful for their patience!
I have talked about it before that being a small business owner is hard work. You have to have a GOOD work-life balance that can be really difficult at times. You hit seasons of business that is busy and you feel like juggling the house isn’t going so well. Or it can completely flip the other way. Let’s just say that balancing being your own boss and enjoying life outside of that is hard. If you do not edit for one morning, guilt sets in.
However, as I always say, that if you have a solid routine down then you’ll win the game in the long haul! Yup. That is how STRONGLY I believe in having good routines. They help set order, structure, and allows for a little flexibility here and there. Most people who follow me on Instagram, may see I share mostly during the evening when I am out of work and editing. I will sneak a image to share with ya’ll on Instagram or Facebook.
As I am about to enter into the some of the busiest months of my business for the Spring Season, I’ve been preparing! Planning, blocking off and setting up our routines for the past few weeks for our future weeks to come. Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite routines that I have set in place that’s been so helpful!
THE “CALENDAR” ROUTINE
I have really taken it upon myself to use the “plan out” method in my work life! It is exactly like scheduling a coffee date with a friend, I will create out a rough plan of what needs to be done on what day. An example will look like this: Saturday 25th – email seniors, purchase tickets, schedule out minis, post blog post, and leave for family session at 5 PM. Sunday 26th – Edit bridal session, check in with brides on contracts, and read over blog post for Monday. 3 clients need to pick up photos, check in on emails, set up Instagram Post, and finalize product orders. Together – prepare camera equipment for session Monday evening!
We even schedule in rest time into our calendars! On a day, I blocked off the entire day to REST before our a Wedding/Quince weekend. You could just say that this is setting up a calendar, but it’s SO important to do EVERYDAY. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Routines have been the biggest help in preparing for a massive Senior/Wedding/Fall/Spring season. It’s a month where our schedules are inconsistent and a lot of things keep moving around. So while we have all of this movement, our routines will be a foundation piece that keeps me + my family somewhat grounded!
When I am looking at my schedule, I am also planning for any crazy Texas weather we are looking to have. I try my best to still leave availability for those clients that may have a rainy day in their forecast.
Can’t thank the Garcia Family enough for their patience with me. I LOVED this session, there is nothing more beautiful than family getting together to make some memories. The kiddos did great, and i am pleased, couldn’t be happier with the way these turned out!
